An ode to handwritten letters
Sail Mail depicts the fantastical journey of a letter travelling to its recipient, and was created as an ode to handwritten mail. To this end, the style was inspired by paper craft and created with a mix of hand-drawn textures and writing, 3D graphics and 2D motion design. For the film’s release I partnered with Post Pals—a charity I adore—who arrange for cards, letters and gifts to be sent to seriously ill children to brighten their days.
Two versions of the film were created: a 4k wide-screen format as well as a vertical reel format for sharing on social media.
